New Moon Meaning & Ritual

A NEW MOON IS A SIGN THAT THE SUN AND THE MOON ARE ALIGNED. OUR LUMINARIES BEING IN THE SAME ZODIAC SIGN MAKE IT A TIME OF CONCENTRATED ENERGIES OF THAT PARTICULAR SIGN.

A new moon means a new beginning. The presence of a new moon makes it a wonderful time to set intentions for things you would like to manifest into your life, things you want to create and cultivate, and things that you want to develop further. There are many ways that you can go about connecting with the Universe at this time. That being said, please do remember that all that matters is that you are focused on your vision for yourself and that you are opening yourself up to receive whatever it may be that you need, in the ways that they will present themselves.

The beautiful thing about spirituality and the ways of the Universe is that they are accessible to anyone that is seeking. It is, as you want it to be. That being said, if you are feeling overwhelmed and need some guidance as to how to start your practice, this is a simplified version of what I do for my new moon ritual:

  1. I cleanse myself physically & spiritually. I like to indulge in a decadent self-care ritual pretty regularly so, in moments like this, I kick it up a notch by incorporating a good soak in the tub. My go-to soak these days is the Herbivore Botanicals Coconut Soak (which you can find here) paired with a generous amount of Pink Himalayan Salt, that you can pick up from your local health food store. Once I’ve physically cleansed myself, I spiritually cleanse myself from (as the babysitter I had growing up would say) my head top to my foot bottom with palo santo. It is imperative to me that I cleanse my home as well. In addition, I always have incense burning abundantly moving forward into my practice.
  2. I give thanks for what I have and light a candle whilst declaring that I am inviting love and light into my space, my home, and my life.
  3. I write down my intentions for myself and all that makes up my life. I make a point of writing long term and short term goals and intentions that I would like to manifest and call into my life. I like to refer to my goals that I set at the beginning of the year and incorporate them into my intention setting in any way that I can. I’ve noticed that taking a journalling approach during this writing session makes me feel more comfortable and therefore, more inclined to be as real and raw as possible.

Throughout this entire process, I really like to get comfortable by listening to music that calms and soothes my mind. I’ve curated a playlist for myself that you can use if you’d like. You can find it linked below.

You can keep posted to this space for detailed breakdowns of what each moon in our upcoming lunar calendar symbolizes. Sending you all good energy!
